Meet Coach Josi Pinheiro

Josi Pinheiro, Pavilion Athletics Volleyball Coach
Josi is a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She played for the Brazilian Youth National Teams, for both the indoor and beach volleyball programs, gaining valuable international experience.

Josi came to the USA in 2006 attending Seminole State College in Oklahoma. She then transferred to The University of Hawaii Hilo playing 3 years as a leading Outside Hitter for the Vulcans. While at UHH, from 2007-'09, she was an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American for the 2008 season, received numerous preseason, all tournament, and player of the week awards. She was voted preseason Pacific West Conference Player of the Year for 2009 and was voted to the preseason All PAC West Team for 2008. She helped UHH capture the PAC West Conference Titles in 2007 & '09, going undefeated in the 2007 conference schedule. She helped lead the Vulcans to the most conference and overall wins from 2007-09, in their conference. She earned a spot on the All-PAC West First Team in 2008 & '09, the 2nd Team in 2007, and was an ACCA All-Region player in 2008.

She also has collegiate coaching experience, having helped coach to Towson University Tigers to one of the best seasons in program history in 2011. The Tigers went 25-4, finished the CAA schedule with a perfect 12-0 mark and won 18 straight matches!

In Josi’s own words, “I am a former international professional volleyball player who also has collegiate playing and coaching experience. I am committed to making student athletes better volleyball players, developing proper skills and techniques allowing them to reach full potential, minimize injuries, and increase their fitness levels!”
