In BeanTree’s Junior Kindergarten program, your child embarks on a learning journey built on a strong foundation that encourages creativity and exploration. Your child is preparing for the wonderful diversity of life, while he learns to respect, share, and negotiate in an environment that fosters his developing self-esteem. With many opportunities to make her own choices and participate in decision-making, you will see your child become an independent, confident learner, who is increasingly capable of connecting information and developing answers on her own.

Ratios and Relationships

Caring and learning are inseparable. BeanTree Learning teachers invite Junior Kindergarteners to be investigators and to explore and pursue new activities with support for risk-taking and resourcefulness in the classroom. They act as mentors and guides and show respect for children’s needs and ideas. Our Junior Kindergarten program provides a warm, safe, and challenging environment where the adult to child ratio is 1:10.

Friendships in the Junior Kindergarten classroom begin to take on new meaning. This is an exciting time where real and valued friends can share in each other’s day and create meaningful and lasting memories

Your Child’s Day

Each school day includes a rich combination of indoor and outdoor activities focused on the children’s individual interests with a teacher who is a resource to the children, helping to negotiate social situations, facilitating personal development, and setting the stage for learning. Your child is viewed as an individual and is given appropriate goals and challenges to foster confidence and a love for learning, with chances to make choices and understand consequences.

Our goal is to create an environment that helps children develop strong self-concepts, adjust to new environments, establish appropriate self-management behaviors, search out challenges, take risks, and connect to the world.

Individual scheduling and small group times afford excellent opportunities for learning and stimulation. As your child moves through the day, he spends blocks of learning time in his classroom, our specialty rooms, and outdoors.
