Behind the Global Courtyard, hidden from families’ sight, is the Service Hall, a busy, bustling area where our housekeepers work hard to keep our school clean and our children fed. The Service Hall contains two distinct rooms – our Kitchen and Laundry Room.
In the Kitchen, our beloved housekeepers serve breakfast, lunch, and four snacks for our children each day, provided by our local caterers. In coordination with the Director Team, they ensure that students with allergies receive the proper food. (We are a completely nut-free environment.) A commercial refrigerator and freezer keep our food fresh and crisp until it is ready to serve. Additionally, BeanTree offers a strictly vegetarian menu and all meals are designed to be nutritious and delicious using only the freshest ingredients and offerings.
We are committed to healthful meals, so the food we serve is made with:
- Whole grains
- Organic chicken and meats, when possible
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Little or no high fructose corn syrup
- Nitrate-free deli meats
- Hormone-free milk
- No artificial food dyes
In the Laundry Room, each piece of linen is washed daily. That includes:
- Infant washcloths
- Rest mat sheets and blankets
- Crib and cradle sheets and blankets
In addition, each toy in the infant and toddler room is sanitized when each child is through playing with it.
In the Service Hall, a locked service entrance is secluded from normal access so that outside deliveries do not disrupt the students’ day. Those approaching the service entrance are required to ring a doorbell, which allows the Assistant Director to view the visitor before allowing access.
This Service Hall and the people who work in it help ensure smooth, comfortable, safe, and hygienic days for our children.
