Global Courtyard

Leaving the Welcome Area, children cross The Rainforest Bridge into the Global Courtyard.  The Global Courtyard provides a glimpse into the world.  The floor has a 250 square foot mosaic map of the world.  The tall, two-story walls look like ancient buildings with “windows” that feature custom-painted murals of landmarks from around the world.  Teachers often use these “Windows on the World” to teach children about our global community, history, and even geography.  Large skylights flood the courtyard with natural sunlight while indoor “clouds” float overhead.

The directors’ office and all of the specialty classrooms are located around the Global Courtyard.  These rooms have large windows looking onto the Courtyard, allowing adults to observe classes and children to enjoy natural sunlight throughout their school day.

The physical environment at BeanTree is so stimulating!  Even the youngest ones are moving through the school on buggy rides.  It’s lovely that the older students can travel in small groups, moving from room to room.  I think this keeps behavioral issues minimal.  Have you seen the multiple playgrounds that are age appropriate?  The program is very well organized, controlled, and stimulating.
